This “The Learning Generation: Investing in Education for a Changing World” report was launched of our research on “Designing the Optimal Skills Pledge and Skills Levy” on behalf of the Education Commission, at the UN General Assembly on 18th Sept 2016. Pictures is former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown with the report at the launch.
The report is a comparative analysis of international skills levies and pledges with a particular focus on India, South Africa and the UK. We worked closely with government stakeholders in all three countries to create a series of recommendations that the Education Commission will now take forward.
Education and skills are essential for the realisation of individual potential, national economic growth, social development and the fostering of global citizenship. In the coming decades, as technology, demographic change and globalisation reshape the world we live in, they will become ever more important.
